DROPPERS

by VIDEO SYSTEM

Assigned NGM-226 in 1996 but abandoned and number reissued to Magic Master in 1997

DETAILED DESCRIPTION:

For many years, this puzzle game was dismissed as having simply been the early working title for Zintrick. No screenshots had ever been seen, it was from the same time period, and the main gameplay sprites in Zintrick are shaped like water droplets. So it becomes obvious to see how this caused quite a bit of confusion.

Zintrick was developed by ADK and was released in March of 1996 for the NEOGEO CD system. The MVS version was sadly canceled. Droppers was by Video System and never saw a release. Very little is known about Droppers. It was among 3 NEOGEO puzzle games which were all scheduled to be shown at the March 1996 ACME show. I was actually at that show and I can confirm that it was NOT presented there.

While it was assumed that Droppers was canceled because their were too many NEOGEO puzzle games flooding the market at the same time, the irony is that most of them didn't even get released anyhow! Zintrick (MVS) was canceled, Pair Pair Wars was canceled, and Droppers was canceled! Not to mention Treasure of the Caribbean, Puzzle KO Club, and Magic Stone War, all puzzle games as well, had also been canceled in the past!

INFORMATION TIMELINE:
